A few years back I managed to get an appointment to talk about mental health problems. The response I had from the doctor was, “I think it’s important to remember that there are people who have it worse than you.” A friend was told “You’re too pretty to be depressed.”
*update* Since leaving this review I received an unexpected phone call on my family home landline from the Practice Manager asking to speak to me about comments I’d been spreading on Facebook about his practice (I don’t have Facebook). The fact he had looked up my name and number and decided to call me in the middle of the day based on a Google Review speaks to the level of unprofessionalism at the practice and felt threatening in nature. He found the incident in question on my records (given the timeframe) and apologised for the treatment I received. However, that is not the way to go about it and is a huge breach. What if my family had not known I had mental health issues or had been seeing my GP?

Although the doctors I have been to have been very helpful and welcoming I have had trouble with reception on multiple occasions they don’t seem to offer any useful advice when I have concerns and have been very rude and blunt over the phone which has lead me to be uncomfortable with calling and getting my medication. This does not apply to all the reception staff as many of them are lovely.

My mother is with these and they are useless , didn’t do anything about open self harm wounds , basically said she is an idiot very unprofessional . Stopped pain killers instantly because she left them on holiday due to family emergency which made her very ill and she did tell them but they said it was her fault and they weren’t interested. Avoid coming here if possible

I have only experienced help and excellent service from Princess Street Surgery. The staff are friendly and as accommodating as they can be.
We need to try to be more understanding of the difficulties of general practice in these days
All surgeries have challenges that are unique to these times. There is great demand for GP services, there is shortage of staff due to Covid. The staff are working under extreme pressurised circumstances, there are extra patients to accommodate due to so many houses being built in this area and they have no allowance from the government for extra doctors, nurses and administrative staff. GPs are retiring after years of dedicated selfless service to the community and replacing them is very difficult as most doctors wish to have locum roles and do not wish to be GPS.

Phoned from 8.30am yesterday morning when the appointment window opens, pressed redial 296 times and line busy. At 9.10am I gave up knowing even if I got into the queue at this time all appointments will ge gone. Exactly the same this morning and they wonder why people are going to A&E for non emergency treatment. A tip on how to get an appointment would be gratefully received.

This is the worst doctors you will ever find they have no my health online one phone line that you can never get through on you lucky if it's engaged not cut off for the day to save them work, and there's no point to go into the reception to book an appointment they just look at you as if there's nothing behind their eyes and tell you you need to phone the number is not connected to anything. One hole I would rate this surgery 0 and 10 unless you were either dead or had no need to see a doctor, over 300 attempts at getting through on the phone in the mornings is standard, you just have to get used to it.

If I could give zero stars I would!
Awful service. Usually takes around 200 dials and roughly an hour of waiting to get through on the phone in the morning. This is standard service.
The last 3 times I have contacted them (after waiting ages to get through on the phone) they have just said 'Sorry, no appointments left. You'll have to phone again tomorrow at 8:30am'.
Basically, I can't get an appointment.
I am now changing surgeries because this one is absolutely useless!!!

I am amazed that in 2019 there is not a better way of making appointments at this surgery!. I have explained on several occasions that my job does not allow me to make personal calls, so being able to arrange an appointment for a future date is imperative. Even if I was able to make an appointment for that day, I would not be able to leave work to attend at such short notice! The surgery as a whole really needs to sort this issue - in the mean time I’ll be looking at other surgeries in the area - I’m sure they can’t be as useless as this for making appointments.

I reiterate other people's comments, very difficult to get an appointment first thing, you have to phone dead on 8.30am when they open and just wait until the line is free, which can take up to 15 minutes or more. Normally, you can be seen by a Doctor on the day though, but it is a pain when you have to work and can't have access to a telephone to make personal calls. It would be so much easier to have access to an online booking system, which would be so much easier and probably help free up the receptionists. I have been a patient at this surgery for a number of years and find most of the Doctors ok, particularly of late Dr Earland, so really the 4 stars are for her.
